Trash through the city

Nixa: inside city limits, residential trash and recycling are handled through the city's contract with Republic Services. Use the city's page to arrange service or find the right contact for pickup questions.

Rogersville: trash is billed with water and sewer on the city utility bill. City code (section 230.090) charges the occupant of every occupied home. Call City Hall at 417-753-2884 to start service.

Our request form sends residents of both cities to the city instead of collecting a hauler request. Outside city limits, confirm service using your exact address.

What affects your bill

Cart size
Ask which cart is included and what a larger or extra cart costs. Match the capacity to your household.
Recycling
Check whether it costs extra, how often it is collected and which materials are accepted. Confirm it serves your address.
Pickup frequency
Compare trash and recycling schedules separately. Weekly trash does not necessarily mean weekly recycling.
Billing and fees
Ask for the total bill, billing interval and payment fees. Check whether the advertised price is introductory and when it can change.
Extra bags and bulky items
Ask what fits within the regular service and what costs extra. Confirm how to schedule a bulky-item pickup.
Starting or stopping service
Ask about cart delivery, cart removal, cancellation terms and any deposit before you agree to service.

How to switch haulers

First, confirm that the new hauler serves your exact address. Get the total price, cart size, recycling schedule and start date in writing.

Then check your current hauler's cancellation terms, final bill and cart removal arrangements. Coordinate the last pickup and the new service start so you know where your trash will go.

What the Chapter 94 proposal would change

Residents told the city that comparing trash options and prices is hard. The Chapter 94 proposal would require haulers to report standard-package prices each year and have the city publish them in one place.

As of Nov 1, 2026, the proposal had not been adopted. Springfield still lets you choose a private hauler, and the city does not regulate rates. Source: the city's Chapter 94 review, checked Nov 2026.

Can I choose a different trash hauler in Nixa?

No. We are an independent referral and information service. We help you understand your options and request help finding haulers serving your address. A hauler we refer you to may pay us a referral fee. You have no obligation to hire.
